White House defends Trump's use of 'animals' to portray gang members

Trump blames Democrats for 'bad laws' separating undocumented immigrant families

"Trump referred to those crossing U.S. border illegally as "animals" and slammed California sanctuary state laws as 'deadly, '" a now-deleted tweet from the Associated Press read. "Others who rushed to judgment to get the President rather than to get the story owe @POTUS-and the grieving loved ones who have lost family members to gang violence-an apology", tweeted the unflappable Kellyanne Conway, while Don Jr., along with much of the rest of the Trump cavalcade, defended the comments by insisting that his father used the phrase exclusively in reference to gang members, and not in reference to the average undocumented immigrant.

"Comparing any person to an animal, regardless of criminal record or immigration status.is an invitation to violate human rights, to hate, to xenophobic rhetoric, and that is something that can not be accepted", he told Mexican TV network Televisa. "But it doesn't work here, the fact is he was asked about MS-13, he referred to them as 'animals.' Open and shut, there's nothing more to this", Coglianese said. Meanwhile, The Washington Post went further and described the reference as evoking "an ugly history of dehumanization" despite correctly including the MS-13 reference in the transcript. During the same event, Trump called members of MS-13 and other undocumented immigrants who are deported for committing crimes "animals". Trump's initial remarks were met with widespread condemnation on social media by Democratic lawmakers and activists who believed he was describing all immigrants crossing the southern border.

Looking at Jeff Sessions, his attorney general, who sat at the other end of the large wooden conference table, Mr. Trump said: "Perhaps the Department of Justice can look into that".

However, Muqtada al-Sadr is projecting a strong nationalist personality at the moment and is not favored by Iran or the Americans. Over the weekend, Iraqis voted in the first general election since the country declared victory over Islamic State past year .

But White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders defended the president's comments, arguing the word "animals" didn't go far enough.

"I'm referring to the MS-13 gangs that are coming in".

They were criticising legislation Govenor Jerry Brown signed into law previous year that bars police from asking people about their immigration status or helping federal agents with immigration enforcement. But the Trump administration has sued to reverse it, calling the policies unconstitutional and unsafe. "We need strong immigration laws.We have laws that are laughed at on immigration", he said. This is one of the most vicious and deadly gangs that operate by the motto of rape, control, and kill. Brown responded on Twitter, writing that Trump "is lying on immigration, lying about crime and lying about the laws of CA". Flying in a dozen Republican politicians to flatter him and praise his reckless policies changes nothing. "The Democrats gave us that law".
