Deontay Wilder Makes A Huge Offer To Fight Anthony Joshua

Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn labelled the offer'more of a PR move than anything

A title unification fight with World Boxing Council (WBC) champion Wilder seems imminent in what is certainly the biggest and most lucrative contest in boxing today.

"We want [Joshua] to fight Deontay in his next fight and we offered him $50m", Finkel told Sky Sports.

This follows a well-publicised projection from Hearn that the bout could gross well over £100 million from ticket sales and pay-per-view costs.

Less than a day removed from boxing promoter Lou Dibella's claim that a fight between Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua would not take place (courtesy of Boxing News 24) there is a glimmer of hope.

"We want to see the money and know where it is".

Joshua is targeting every single belt in the heavyweight division as his unanimous decision win over Joseph Parker on March 31 sees him now hold the World Boxing Organization (WBO), World Boxing Association (WBA), International Boxing Federation (IBF) and International Boxing Organization (IBO) heavyweight titles.

"It said to please respond by tomorrow, which makes it feel like a PR move, especially since it has come from Deontay".

Isakson was delivering the eulogy for a friend in Atlanta, and was unable to return to Washington until later in the evening. That's when Democrat Senator Chris Coons said he would vote as present to allow Isakson to rest after attending the funeral.

Hearn, who is in NY for a fight card this weekend, said it was "a great PR stunt" by Wilder's team ahead of their scheduled meeting on Saturday (NZT) to start face-to-face negotiations.

'If he's saying he's not going to take $50m then he didn't really want to fight him next, because he's getting 50 per cent anyway.

Steve Bunce of the BBC says the proposal is "part bluster and part sense", and believes the biggest issue is the venue for the fight. I assure you that we're serious and we would be glad to sit down with you and provide proper security for the funding and work out all the details. "There is a real strong chance this fight could happen - we're not looking to be hard". So I expect you to be a man of your word'.

He added: "Tell Eddie Hearn to let you personally check his email this time".

"In exchange, I'm getting advice on nutrition and how to bulk up a bit and how to look better in myself".

ESPN reported had reported that the management of both boxers have acknowledged the reality of the offer, adding that it was for one fight, with no rematch clause, and would have to be the next bout for each fighter.
