Rudy Giuliani to Join President Trump's Legal Team for the Mueller Probe

Former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani speaks to mourners ahead of a funeral service at the Billy Graham Library for the Rev. Billy Graham who died last week at age 99 Friday

Ty Cobb runs the White House's response to the Russian Federation probe, and Sekulow, a talk radio host known for arguing First Amendment cases, is leading the president's personal team.

Giuliani is certain to come under intense scrutiny for his role.

In case you were anxious Donald Trump's legal team wasn't desperate enough, the president has somehow convinced Rudy Giuliani to hop aboard and try to save him from Robert Mueller's investigation! He hopes to conclude the investigation in the coming months.

Trump's struggles to find legal help have been a recurring theme, with several elite attorneys turning down offers because of the president's temperamental, tweet-first approach and his repeatedly violating his lawyers' wishes by discussing the case publicly and with his top aides. They're nearly there. "I'm going to ask Mueller, 'What do you need to wrap it up?'" he said.

Giuliani joins a legal team headed by Jay Sekulow. When he spoke with The Washington Post on Thursday, Giuliani played up his service in the Justice Department and ties to Mueller.

The former NY mayor has also represented Reza Zarrab, a Turkish-Iranian gold trader charged in the US for helping Iran skirt sanctions. "He has been my friend for a long time and wants to get this matter quickly resolved for the good of the country". Giuliani's arrival signals that something darker - perhaps something worse than the Mueller probe - could be lurking around the corner. He said the president would never carry out such a move because he knows it would be "counterproductive".

Giuliani told CNN in an interview that he intends to obtain a list of what is necessary to "comply" with the rest of the investigation from Mueller. He also praised Mueller as fair, claiming, "Bob is the best we can do".

The Daily Beast reported earlier Thursday that Giuliani was in talks with Trump about joining the legal team.

Sekulow also announced the addition of two other lawyers to the Trump legal team, Jane Serene Raskin and Marty Raskin.

"He had the job that I had later", Bharara said.

"John Dowd left abruptly and put Sekulow in a hole".

The former mayor's law firm, Greenberg Traurig, distanced itself from him, and he took leave for an unspecified amount of time.

Giuliani also served as a loyal foot soldier in some of the darkest moments during Trump's presidential campaign.

The former NY mayor told The Washington Post on Thursday that he hopes to "negotiate an end" to the investigation into Russian interference in the election "for the good of the country". Mr. Trump's legal team has "worked so hard to get this done".

Of interest, at one time Giuliani ran the Southern District of NY U.S. Attorney's office, which is the office that recently raided the office of Trump's personal attorney, Michael Cohen.
