BMW announces M2 Competition

BMW M2 Competition revealed, gets S55 M3/M4 twin-turbo engine

It's a known fact that a lot of BMW enthusiasts and critics have had a bone to pick with BMW's S55 3-liter straight six engine. The hotter version of the M2 will boast 405 horsepower from its twin-turbo inline-6, as well as 406 pound-feet of torque, increases of 40 and 63, respectively.

Externally, the M2 Competition looks much the same as the regular model minus some snazzy 19-inch wheels. More importantly though the purists will still have a choice of a traditional six-speed manual transmission over the seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, the latter of which can send the 0 - 100km/h sprint in 4.2 seconds. A dual exhaust system with electronic flap control provides an M sound as the vehicle powers to 60 miles per hour in 4.0 seconds (with the automatic) and a limited top speed of 155 miles per hour (174 MPH with the optional M Driver's Package). The brakes are larger on all four corners and feature six-piston front and four-piston rear calipers.

To enhance the dynamics, the carbon-fiber reinforced plastic strut brace from the M3/M4 is added to the engine compartment. The power steering, Active M differential, and stability control have all been adjusted as well.

The new M2 Competition benefits from a performance exhaust system, which features four exhaust tips.

The particulate filter forms part of a new dual exhaust system that replaces the single routing on the outgoing M2.

There are two new optional paint colors: Hockenheim Silver and Sunset Orange Metallic.

Foothills Asset Management Ltd. Has $2.74 Million Stake in Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL)
Jefferies maintained Consolidated Communications Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:SNI) on Tuesday, October 10 with "Hold" rating. Meanwhile, the shares were being bought and sold by the companies prior to the 20-Days simple moving average of 2.02%.

The M2 Competition's kerb weight is 55kg heavier than the old M2's at 1550kg in six-speed manual guise, largely due to the engine. Door sill plates bear an M2 Competition logo, as does the instrument cluster upon startup.

Inside, the M2 Competition adds redesigned M sport seats with blue or orange perforated-leather inserts, illuminated M2 badges, Alcantara side bolsters, and integrated headrests.

Standard equipment includes a reversing camera, LED headlights, front and rear parking sensors and BMW's iDrive system.

The sporty, yet opulent seats found in the 2019 BMW M2 Competition are sure to keep occupants well-planted during a spirited drive. With the DCT the M2 Competition can reach 60 miles per hour in 4.0 seconds, while the manual is a tad slower at 4.2 seconds.

The BMW M2 Competition has selector switches on the centre console to adjust the characteristics of the engine, steering and twin-clutch transmission.

The larger grille admits more air to the engine and is joined by a front skirt whose contours are created to direct air around the front of the auto for engine cooling and improved aerodynamics. Fast forward to yesterday and we got a completely new M2 in the shape of the M2 Competition.
