Barbara Bush's years in the White House

Barbara Bush, former US first lady, dies aged 92

Barbara's funeral is expected to be held at St. Martin's Church in Houston, where she and the former president have been devoted members for decades.

It was 1989 when U.S President Bush and First Lady Barbara welcomed Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto and her husband Asif Ali Zardari to the White house on a state visit. She had chose to decline further medical treatment for health problems and focus instead on "comfort care" at home in Houston.

In the same conversation, she said she didn't fear death for herself or "my precious George". In 2009, she had heart valve replacement surgery, and she had a long history of treatment for Graves' disease, a thyroid condition. And she just was so kind and compassionate. The Barbara Bush Houston Literacy Foundation notes that she was "a tireless advocate of volunteerism", who helped charitable and humanitarian causes throughout her life. She shares the title with Abigail Adams, whose husband, John, was the second president, and son John Quincy Adams was the sixth. Some had protested her selection because she was prominent only through the achievements of her husband.

"I went over to see her a week ago Saturday", George W. Bush said.

The 43rd president, George W. Bush is one of six children from that marriage, which is the longest in presidential history.

"A former First Lady of the United States of America and relentless proponent of family literacy, Barbara Pierce Bush passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at the age of 92".

President Donald Trump said among Mrs. "We pray for and send condolences to her family".

After World War II, the Bushes moved to the Texas oil patch to seek their fortune and raise a family. I'm a lucky man that Barbara Bush was my mother. Bush was known as "The Enforcer", an affectionate nickname and tribute to her role as keeper of the family's values and way of living, which she nurtured and enforced with the unique blend of toughness and gentleness that was her trademark. Her selfless devotion to service defines the inspiring legacy Barbara has left behind.
