Facebook Admits It Collects User Data Even From Non-Users

Second: Facebook is collecting data from lot of places like the apps or websites that lets you log in using your Facebook details.

"It's about beginning to question the types of information they have about you, beginning to question the transparency of the data that you share across all platforms, not just Facebook".

This bit of information was revealed by David Baser, Product Management Director, Facebook.

The advertisement tool allows Facebook to share statistics on how many people are responding to an ad with the advertising companies.

As Facebook, other social media sites and users themselves put greater value in trusted sources, musicians and labels that communicate in a straightforward and honest manner will be front an center once again, replacing the trolls, bots, and spammers that users and the social channels themselves are done with. These companies - and many others - also offer advertising services. Alphabet's (goog) cloud-based Google Photos service uses similar technology and Google faces a lawsuit in Chicago like the one against Facebook in San Francisco federal court.

When you visit a website, the browser you use sends a request to the site's server. Suppose, for example, if Facebook didn't collect your location then it would display the content in some random language, say Serbian or any Nordic language which you might not know.

He added: "So when a website uses one of our services, your browser sends the same kind of information to Facebook as the website receives".

Many people don't realize that your Apps settings on Facebook can also affect your level of privacy. "This would apply to other services beyond Facebook because, as mentioned, it is standard to how the internet works". He went further to promise that Facebook was conducting a full investigation into every app that has access to user's information from the platform. "We've got to fix that", said Rep. Luján, referring to a process that forces non Facebook users to sign up for the service if they want to know what personal information the company has obtained.

He gave a few tips on how to avoid losing Facebook information (contacts, messages and locations) to third party users in view of the recent Facebook data leakage of over 87 million users worldwide.

He also claimed that the information received from websites and apps was also used to help protect the security of Facebook. "But that's subjective. At the moment, we don't have those three points addressed".

Zuckerberg has been called to appear in the European Parliament to explain how Facebook data of as many as 2.7 million Europeans could have been passed to Cambridge Analytica.

Concern about Facebook constructing so-called "shadow profiles" was renewed when House Representative Ben Lujan asked whether the social network scrapes data on users who had never set up profiles.
