Bill Cosby's main accuser tells trial: 'I am here for justice'

Bill Cosby Retrial

Bill Cosby's chief accuser took the witness stand for the second time to tell a story of molestation and broken trust, describing for jurors how the comedian knocked her out with three blue pills and then sexually assaulted her at his home. It's the second time within the year that Constand, one of nearly 60 women accusing Cosby of sexual misconduct, has been able to confront the 80-year-old comedian since the first trial ended in a hung jury last June.

Prosecutors gave opening statements Monday.

The women also could help prosecutors insulate Constand from the defense's contention that she is a "con artist" who preyed on Cosby's vulnerability after the 1997 killing of his son, Ennis, and then framed him to score a big payday via a $3.4 million civil settlement. "They'll help take the edge off".

"This is the type of man Cosby is", she said.

Constand said she awoke between 4 a.m. and 5 a.m.to find her bra up around her neck and her trousers half unzipped.

"It's the flawless Oceans 11 extortion campaign, when you look at what she testified it lines up with what women testified yesterday", said spokesman Andrew Wyatt. She tried moving her arms and legs but couldn't do that either. He put a pillow under her head and said, "Just relax there". "So he gets to say whatever he wants and once again they go outside, they slander her outside of the courtroom and what is her recourse?" I was in shock. And I was really confused because - what I remembered before I went on that couch feeling blurry vision and what I felt.

About 50 women have accused Cosby of assault, many of them alleging, as Constand did, that he drugged them.

Constand testified that she did not tell anyone of the attack until January 2005, about a year after she has said it occurred, because she feared coming forward.

"Ms. Constand, why are you here?".

He said Constand went to Cosby's home at least a half-dozen times and sneaked into bed with him at a CT casino, winning his trust so she could set him up later, he said.

"My vagina was being penetrated quite forcefully and I felt my breasts being touched", she said.

She'd also given him gifts of Temple paraphernalia and incense. Al Franken, Matt Lauer and other powerful men in recent months. "An entertainer. A very famous person".

She had appeared on "The Cosby Show" in the early 1990s when she was 12 years old in a part as a friend of Cosby's daughter on the show, Rudy. As a physically fit former professional basketball player, she was confident she could handle him. "I was weak." Constand said she confronted Cosby once about the assault a short time afterward.

"I trusted him because he's 'America's Dad,"' Lublin said.

Cosby denies the charge of aggravated indecent assault of Constand, saying any sexual contact was consensual.

The prosecution is turning to the supporting evidence of five women who have alleged they were assaulted by the TV comic in strikingly similar ways, including being made incapable of giving or refusing sexual consent through drugs. Just one other accuser was permitted to take the witness box at Cosby's first trial.

The defence has called the other accusers irrelevant, urging jurors to focus only on the charges that Cosby is facing.

The retrial this week was actually the first time the settlement and sum was officially made public, and the defense has gleefully been using it to try and discredit Constand as being "greedy" and a "gold digger", as defense attorney Tom Mesereau claimed in opening statements. Thomas has teamed with other Cosby accusers to lobby for longer statutes of limitations, including a successful effort to double Colorado's to 20 years.

Janice Dickinson, a onetime model, told jurors on Thursday that Cosby gave her a pill he claimed would ease her menstrual cramps, but instead left her immobilized and unable to stop an assault she called "gross".

It's expected that during Constand's cross-examination that the defense will set her up to discuss one of their key witnesses, Marguerite Jackson, a former co-worker of Constand's at Temple University.

Now a defence witness, Jackson is expected to testify that Constand once told her she meant to fabricate a claim of sexual assault against a celebrity to earn money.

Six feet tall, wiry and with a mane of curly hair, Constand spoke stiffly at first but warmed considerably when asked about her interests, in the fields of natural medicine and homeopathy.

Thomas once sent a Facebook message to Constand. "This case is about betrayal and that betrayal leading to the sexual assault of a woman named Andrea Constand".

"Our new defense team has had the opportunity to thoroughly research her testimony and statements from previous year, and will point to even more inconsistencies", he said.
