LeBron James breaks Michael Jordan's double-figures record

Dwyane Wade swatted Le Bron James during Heat-Cavs

In doing so, he eclipsed Michael Jordan's National Basketball Association record of 866 consecutive double-digit scoring games.

James scored eight points in the space of two minutes down the stretch in the fourth quarter to put the Cavaliers in the driving seat.

There was a brief stoppage in play, as everyone at sold-out Quicken Loans Arena - including Justin Timberlake - stood and applauded as James was handed the game ball.

The 33-year-old went into the game against the New Orleans Pelicans this evening tied with Jordan on 866 games for reaching double-digit figures.

"I can't tell you how I've been able to do it", James said. "So for me to continue to be an inspiration to the youth and be able to do what I do on the floor, it means a lot for me in that sense".

"I don't know. It's not like I set out to say I wanna become No. 1 in scoring 10-plus points, double digits for consecutive games or whatever and whatnot", he said.

The last time James didn't score at least 10 points in a game was January 5, 2007; he had eight points on 3-for-13 shooting that night in a Cavs win over the Milwaukee Bucks.

Jordan's streak spanned from March 25, 1986, during his second season in the league, to December 26, 2001, which was 26 games into his first season with the Washington Wizards after spending the previous three years in retirement. Among active players, James Harden is second behind James (257) and DeMarcus Cousins is third (162), according to ESPN Stats & Information research. "So I didn't think I could be Mike".

Russian state television on Tuesday showed footage from inside the charred movie theatre, where the roof had entirely collapsed. She said one of her employees said flames first erupted in the children's game room, quickly engulfing the rubber foam gear.

LeBron James said his latest record-breaking feat was a "special moment" but means more to youngsters in need of "hope" than it does to him.

"I would vote for me", James said. That number is just going to keep climbing, just going to keep climbing. Takes care of himself, takes care of his body. Even as his career gets older, moves to the 4 and bangs with the big boys, he'll still be fine, he'll still be faster than majority, he'll still shoot it better than majority. "It's going to be on him".

Jordan, the Hornets' majority owner, didn't attend Wednesday's game, which ended with the hoop-savvy Charlotte crowd standing to salute and serenade James with chants of "M-V-P!"

And another mark is in reach for James, too.

LeBron James already has already won league MVP four times, and might be due for a fifth after yet another unbelievable season.

"That's a phenomenal feat to accomplish", he said to reporters.

"You can say what you want about LeBron, whether it be positive or whether it be a negative, but what he has done is just - it's incredible", Drew said.
