Three things to know about Loyola-Chicago, Michigan's next opponent

Seminoles swarm overwhelm Zags with committee approach

After the game, CBS sideline reporter Dana Jacobson asked Hamilton a perfectly legitimate question: "In the final seconds of this game, why didn't you guys foul?" The 11th-seeded Ramblers have made an awesome run during March Madness, knocking off higher seeds Miami, Tennessee, Nevada, and Kansas State to punch their first Final Four ticket since 1963, the year they won their only NCAA national title.

So Jacobson opened the postgame interview by asking Hamilton why he didn't foul in the closing seconds.

Although there are hardly any softball questions to ask a coach on the losing end of a regional final, perhaps Jacobson would have been better off throwing Hamilton one first rather than cutting right to the chase with a rather hard question.

One of the most controversial decisions of March Madness was the way Florida State lost to MI in the Elite Eight. Senior forward Phil Cofer led the Seminoles with 16 points and 11 rebounds in the loss.

After playing in front of 19,665 mostly pro-Michigan fans in Los Angeles, the Wolverines can likely expect much of the country to be rooting against them in San Antonio. But regardless, it should be noted the Wolverines have done everything correctly this season - win or lose at the Final Four. Zavier Simpson then made one of two free throws with 40 seconds left to give MI a four-point lead, and after Phil Cofer, who led Florida State with 16 points, tipped in a miss with 24 seconds left, Robinson buried two more free throws with 21 seconds to finally ice the game. On one side was MI, known for its modern offense, based on ball movement, spacing and shooting.

Robinson grabbed the rebound and the Seminoles opted not to foul the strong MI shooter.

"I thought they did a great job and a great game plan that forced us to 14 turnovers in the first half", Hamilton said. They held Florida State to just 32.0% from the field and 23.5% from three. The Wolverines will now move on to face the Loyola-Chicago Ramblers, who have been the Cinderella of the 2018 NCAA Tournament.

"I'm very proud of them. They're a really good team", he said. Michigan, meanwhile, is off to the Final Four.

MI had a distinct home-court advantage from thousands of vocal fans packed into the lower bowl of Staples Center.

"I don't know who Sister Jean is, no disrespect", he said. The crowd included Rudy Tomjanovich, the MI alumnus and former Lakers coach, who watched in Wolverines gear near courtside.

MI was 16-24 from the line, 67%, in the game. Against Texas A&M, they shot the lights out, scoring 99 points.
