Pakistan expats celebrate National Day

The president said the nation confronted decades old terrorism that plagued the entire region

Pakistani community members in the UAE on Friday celebrated the 78th National Day of Pakistan with traditional zeal and patriotic spirit at the premises of the Embassy of Pakistan in Abu Dhabi and Consulate General of Pakistan in Dubai.

The main feature of the day was the spectacular military parade held at the Parade Ground, Shakarparian. He was received by Pakistan's Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi in Islamabad.

The day dawned with 31- and 21-gun salutes in the federal and provincial capitals, respectively, while the national flag was hoisted atop government buildings and departments. The parade also included troops of Frontier Force Regiment, Northern Light Infantry Regiment, Mujahid Battalion, Tri Services Lady Officers, Tri Services Armed Forces Nursing Services, Special Services Group, and President Bodyguards.

India has made it clear to Islamabad that the onus is on Pakistan to create a conducive atmosphere for dialogue between the two countries.

This year a total of 141 Pakistanis as well as foreign nationals will be conferred civil awards.

Meanwhile, Pakistan President Mamnoon Hussain, in his keynote address, warned India against "provocations".

India Vows To End TB By 2025
Speaking at the End TB Summit, PM Narendra Modi said the Government was working in a mission mode to make India TB-free. The key to effectively tackling TB is for quick diagnosis as this helps to stop it from spreading to others.

"With these actions, Pakistan's neighbour has put the regional peace at stake", he said.

Hussain also greeted the forces from Turkey, Jordan and the United Arab Emirates that took part in the parade.

Calling upon for an immediate and peaceful resolution of the struggle of Kashmiri people, the President said, "The only solution to the dispute of Kashmir is to provide the right of self-determination to Kashmiris, and Pakistan will continue to play its role in this regard".

The objective behind inviting Indian military representatives is to send a message that while Pakistan "stands for peace", it is also ready to defend every inch of the country in case of any misadventure, he said.

Pakistani right activist Asma Jahangir, who died last month in Lahore and often criticized the military's interference in civilian affairs, will also be honored. "Pakistan is ready to cooperate and join hands for lasting peace". He lauded the armed forces as well as the nation for eliminating terrorism from the country under operations Raddul Fasaad and Zarb-i-Azb.
