Exiled Russian Businessman Found Dead At His Home In South London

Russian exile Nikolai Glushkov found dead in his home in London

A Russian businessman and an associate of the one-time billionaire Boris Berezovsky, Nikolay Glushkov, has died in London.

According to a statement, "police were called by the London Ambulance Service at 22:46hrs on Monday, March 12, to reports of a man found deceased at a residential address in Clarence Avenue, New Malden".

"There is no evidence to suggest a link to the incident in Salisbury, said London's Metropolitan Police, referring to the poisoning that has severely strained British-Russian ties".

According to the Russian Embassy in London, the United Kingdom refused to extradite Glushkov in February 2016 on charges of large-scale fraud and embezzlement during his time as the deputy director of the Russian national airline Aeroflot.

Glushkov had a nasty fall-out with Putin, 65, in 1999 when he was jailed for money laundering and fraud. However, he was sentenced to three years and three months of probation for abuse of office.

Glushkov moved to the United Kingdom in 2006 after a Moscow court sentenced him to a two-year suspended sentence for fraud in 2006.

He gave evidence in a case in 2011 brought by Mr Beresovsky against Roman Abramovich, who he claimed had cheated him out of £3.2bn.

"I'm definite Boris was killed", he was quoted by the Guardian as saying at the time.

White House looking to expand legal team amid Russian Federation inquiry
Cobb has told friends that he expects to leave the White House relatively soon, according to The Times . A representative for the White House did not immediately respond to HuffPost's request for comment.

In March last year, he was sentenced to eight years in prison in absentia and issued a one million Russian Ruble fine for allegedly defrauding Aeroflot of $122 million during his tenure as finance director there in the late 1990s.

Berezovsky was found hanged in his Berkshire home in 2013 in an apparent suicide. A close friend of the deceased said to the Russian radio station Govorit Moskva that he may have died of AIDS, adding that Glushkov never hid his homosexuality. They had been dosed with a military-grade nerve agent, UK Prime Minister Theresa May said on Thursday.

He told reporters on Tuesday that London wants "Russia to declare these programs now".

Russian media said he was granted political asylum in Britain in 2010.

As the fallout from the Skripal poisoning continued, Britain's media regulator, Ofcom, announced that Kremlin-backed news channel RT could lose its license to broadcast in the UK.

The regulator said Tuesday that it has a duty "to be satisfied that broadcast licensees remain fit and proper to hold their licenses".

Russian Federation reportedly dismissed the British claims as a "circus show", a "provocation" and "nonsense".

Russian Federation on Tuesday dismissed accusations of any involvement in the poisoning of the ex-spy and his daughter as "nonsense, " saying it will only cooperate with a British investigation if it receives samples of the nerve agent believed to have been used.
