Tiger Woods adds another start in Tampa to pre-Masters run

If Tiger Plays, 2018 Masters Tickets Could Be Most Expensive Ever

Tiger Woods may only be three starts into his PGA Tour return but some experts feel the former world number one has shown he still has what it takes to make a meteoric rise up the rankings.

The 42-year-old may be making his debut in the Valspar Championship but has a great record at the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

This will be the first time Woods, working his way back after a fourth back surgery, has played in the PGA Tour's annual stop in Pinellas County, though he played at Innisbrook when the course hosted the JCPenney Classic, a mixed-team event, in the 1990s.

Though it will also be Woods first appearance in "Arnie's event" since winning for an eighth time in 2013. He can not mathematically qualify for the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play in Texas and it is highly unlikely that he'll play the Shell Houston Open the week prior to going to Augusta.

"I need to keep playing tournament golf, but I need to keep building on it", he added.

"It means keep building my body, keep building towards April".

Tiger Woods' return to golf has been a positive one with the 14-time major victor recently earning his first top-15 finish since 2015.

Tiger had limited options for pre-Masters events because he is ineligible for the World Golf Chanmpionships tournaments this week in Mexico and the Match Play later this month. "And I feel like I'm right on track for that".

It has become clear that many players on the PGA Tour are pulling for Tiger Woods on this most recent comeback.

It is expected that those will be his final two events before he tees it up in The Masters.

"I've been away from tournament golf for so long that I'm starting to feel the rounds", Woods said Sunday following the Honda Classic. "So I think it would be a very good thing for him to go play Valspar".
