2 fatally shot at Central Michigan University, shooter still on the loose

The episode rattled nerves at Central Michigan, where details of the shooting were released slowly. Students are still on lockdown but police say that campus is safe.

James Davis, Sr., a is a part time police officer in IL in Chicago, and his wife, Diva Davis, were reportedly shot be their son, James Davis Jr. on Friday. James Eric Davis Jr. is the suspect at large.

Police said the shooting began as a "family-type domestic issue". "It is unknown what clothing he may be wearing now because we have located a number of articles of clothing along the railroad grade".

"We ask that parents do not come to the university looking for their students", said Klaus.

Sources tell The Detroit Free Press the victims are Davis' parents, but police would not confirm anything about the victims' relation to the suspect.

Davis is also said to be a sophomore, according to the CMU student directory. The two victims were not university students, according to the school.

The school says police are searching for a 19-year-old suspect who's considered armed and risky.

Central Michigan University, located about 155 miles northwest of Detroit in the USA state of Michigan, has about 23,000 students.

Central Michigan was set to host Western Michigan tonight. Many students have already left campus, or may be waiting to be picked up by their parents.

Friday was a light day on campus with the start of spring break.

In response to the shooting in Parkland, Florida, in which gunman Nikolas Cruz used a semi-automatic assault rifle, students at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School have made public appeals for change to permissive USA gun laws. An automated phone message was sent to students.
