Ledecka Writes History With Super-G and PGS Gold

With a gold medal in the snowboard parallel giant slalom, Ester Ledecka of the Czech Republic has become the first woman in Winter Olympics history to win a gold medal in two different sports at the same Olympic Games.

The 22-year-old Czech had delivered the most stunning victory of the 2018 Winter Games, coming out of nowhere to win the Super-G by one-hundredth of a second last week.

On Saturday at Phoenix Snow Park, the 22-year-old was indeed the best "snowboard girl", capturing gold in the snowboard parallel giant slalom, finishing almost two seconds better than any other competitor in the qualifiers before winning all four knockout rounds by 0.40 seconds or greater.

Still struggling to take in the enormity of her achievement, Ledecka admitted she had been overwhelmed by the interest levels generated in her audacious bid to win gold in two sports. "She's the hardest-working athlete I've ever met", Trapp said, adding that she will train in any conditions "and if she doesn't come out with the fastest runs she's mad about it".

It was to do it her way — to compete in multiple sports, to win multiple golds — and the more she heard people say she couldnt do it, the worse a listener she became.

Ledecka's success in the super-G was a huge shock as she upstaged defending champion Anna Veith by 0.01 seconds and Lindsey Vonn finished sixth. Though she had refrained from talking to journalists over the last week, her unexpected moment of glory on skis had cranked up the pressure. Even her snowboard coach, Justin Reiter, the former United States snowboarder, doubted as recently as last fall that Ledecka could perform at a high level in both. "I've never really been good at anything but racing", she said.

No need for argument about the greatest feat of the 2018 Winter Olympics.

Why Didn't Obama Stop Russia Election Meddling?
The indictment notes that the Russians interfered in the election to undermine American democracy and elect Trump . But as he spent a three-day weekend mulling the disclosures, the president grew angry, aides said.

From a prominent Czech family, Ledecka follows in the footsteps of her grandfather, Jan Klapac, who won ice hockey Olympic bronze in 1964 and silver in 1968 with Czechoslovakia.

She had little trouble in the early stages, ranking first in the qualification round, which earned her first selection of lane's when heading to the knockout stages.

Justin Reiter is Ledeckas snowboarding coach. "We're trying to take her away from training, and from the slopes, some days".

The court said that she tested positive for the heart medication trimetazidine and admitted the offense, the fourth doping case to hit the Pyeongchang Olympics and second from Russian Federation.

"We did the best that we could to try to shelter her from you guys picking her bones clean".

For Joerg, the silver medal could be regarded as a long-awaited redemption after she narrowly missed out on a medal in Vancouver eight years ago.

But going back and forth between both is not easy. "That I could just hop from sport to sport". But she had different plans this time. "Don't tell my coaches", she reportedly said.
