McDonald's is capitalizing on the insane popularity of its limited-edition Szechuan sauce with a new website, a podcast - and a promise to release more info (but not the little containers of the stuff itself) this Thursday. Many who lined up at McDonald's locations throughout Manhattan and Queens took their anger to social media when the "super-limited batch" quickly sold out locally. An episode earlier this year featured Rick and Morty, a sociopathic scientist and his grandson, in an adventure trying to obtain the rare McDonald's Szechuan dipping sauce.

After the hit animated show Rick and Morty generated massive interest in a McDonald's condiment they no longer produce - specifically, Chicken McNugget Szechuan Sauce that debuted to promote the 1998 Disney hit Mulan - the fast food giant ended up in a sticky situation. Those packages will be available with any purchase starting Monday, Feb. 26 and will be available until supplies last.

Presented in the style of Serial and other investigative podcasts, McDonald's said that it had no idea that Rick and Morty would namedrop a sauce that many people working at McDonald's had never heard of. "Szechuan Sauce is coming back, and in a big way". The limited batch was at a few McDonald's locations October 7.

Police were called to break-up protests outside some locations after receiving reports of customers jumping onto counters and screaming for Szechuan.
