Christian Aid statement on sexual harassment claims in the sector

Among the provisions is a pledge to work with other aid organizations to overcome "the legal difficulties which have so far prevented us from sharing intelligence" with other aid agencies regarding staff members previously accused of misconduct.

Some employees, such as Roland van Hauwermeiren, the country director in Haiti for Britain-based Oxfam until 2011, were given permission to resign without any further action being taken against them.

THE British government today said it is warning all charities that receive United Kingdom aid to step up efforts to tackle sexual misconduct among staff or face having their funding cut, amid further fallout from a prostitution scandal involving Oxfam workers in Haiti in 2011.

But foreign secretary, Emily Thornberry, said she was concerned that the scandal could lead to fewer donations to charities which would ultimately affect those in "acute distress".

She admitted she was considering whether the organisation should receive any more funding from the Department for International Development - which gave it £32m in the last financial year.

More reports of misconduct have emerged since the original report in the Times.

"This is a historic case but it is in some respects still live".

All of these would be followed up, she told the BBC's Andrew Marr. However, Mordaunt said not disclosing the full picture was "a scandal" and today's meeting was a chance "to see if they are displaying the moral leadership that I think they need to now".

Oxfam said it was "dismayed by what happened" and would fully cooperate with authorities.

The Times reported Friday that the government secretary responsible for charity regulation was calling for Oxfam to provide more information about the staffers who had paid for sex in Haiti.

Last Islamic State "Beatles" Captured in Syria
The detention of Kotey and Elsheikh will end a yearslong manhunt by British intelligence and security agencies, as well as a U.S. Kotey and Elsheikh were the two remaining members of the ISIS "Beatles" quartet who remained on the battlefield.

Ms Mordaunt has written to all United Kingdom charities which receive United Kingdom aid urging them to declare any safeguarding issues.

"There are some actions I'm looking for them taking now".

"If they do not hand over all the information that they have from their investigation... then I can not work with them any more as an aid delivery partner - and any other organisation in those circumstances", she told the BBC.

Oxfam - which employs around 5,000 staff and has 23,000 more volunteers - recorded 87 incidents a year ago, referring 53 to the police or authorities and dismissing 20 staff or volunteers, according to the paper.

Former Oxfam staff in Chad told the paper that "women believed to be prostitutes were repeatedly invited to the Oxfam team house there", and a senior staff member was sacked for his behaviour in 2006.

Of those, 53 were referred to the police or other authorities and 20 people were dismissed.

And it will extend an existing review into bad behaviour and the charity's culture to include looking at how people are hired and managing of staff in challenging environments.

Ms Mordaunt said she was writing to all British charities that receive United Kingdom aid to insist they detail the steps they are taking to ensure safeguarding policies are fully in place.

In the past 12 months, Christian Aid has investigated two incidences of sexual misconduct - both of which occurred overseas.
