Last Islamic State "Beatles" Captured in Syria

Mohammed Emwazi who was killed in a US air strike in 2015 appeared in a number of videos in which captives including British aid workers David Haines and Alan Henning were beheaded

Britain has stripped two Islamic State hostage-killers from London of their British citizenship and is not expected to try to bring them to the United Kingdom to stand trial, The Times understands.

The men, El Shafee Elsheikh and Alexanda Amon Kotey, were captured by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in eastern Syria in early Jan, the New York Times reports.

In a post on Facebook and Instagram, she said: "It's brilliant that these evil people have been caught".

ABC News' 20/20 has previously reported that Mueller was being held hostage by "The Beatles" and that she once boldly corrected "Jihadi John" when he wrongly told other hostages that she had converted to Islam.

Vowing to attend any eventual proceedings, she told BBC News that she wanted to "look them in they eye and let them know I am who I am and they have certainly destroyed a big part of my life".

"It's hugely significant for a lot of the Western countries who had hostages who were captured by Islamic State", he said.

He said: "What I want is an incontestable trial, as fair as possible, where my captors would have all the chances to defend themselves".

Kotey and Elsheikh were the two remaining members of the ISIS "Beatles" quartet who remained on the battlefield. Both men were stripped of their British citizenship, according to the New York Times, and it is not clear if the Justice Department will seek to prosecute the men or whether the USA military will take custody of them.

Kotey was born in London of Greek Cypriot ethnicity, while Elsheikh came as small boy in the 1990s when his family arrived as refugees from Sudan.

He said that Kotey was being questioned but did not specify who by. Elsheikh was known for "waterboarding, mock executions, and crucifixions" of hostages.

Aine Davis, who was a former drug dealer and driver in west London, was convicted for being a senior ISIS member and jailed for terrorism charges a year ago in Turkey.

Bethany Haines, whose father David was killed in 2014 after being held captive for 18 months, said she hoped the pair's detention could bring some closure for bereaved families.

The US official did not give any information on the condition of the two or what would happen to them.

Senior members of the Trump administration, including Attorney General Jeff Sessions, have expressed support for the continued the use of military custody for terrorists. "This hatred has to stop somewhere and it can only be stopped if we can capture people who continue to promote and recruit for it".

The detention of Kotey and Elsheikh will end a yearslong manhunt by British intelligence and security agencies, as well as a U.S. Joint Terrorism Task Force, the CIA and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

"We think that he was a member of a group that has been torturing foreign hostages", the Kurdish official said.
