Israel OKs Over 1100 West Bank Settlement Units

Israeli father of 6, MDA volunteer medic killed in drive-by shooting terror attack near Nablus

Israeli Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman a year ago said Israel plans to demolish a chunk of Susiya, a small village near Hebron, and Khan al-Ahmar, a Bedouin village near the West Bank settlement of Maale Adumim, parallel to plans to demolish unauthorized West Bank Jewish settlements. "Look no further (as) to why there is no peace..."

The file of settlement expansion is the most prominent aspect of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and one of the main reasons for the end of the last peace negotiations, sponsored by the United States between the two sides in mid 2014.

The area frequently sees tensions between Israeli settlers and Palestinians.

Shevah laid to rest at the wildcat settlement today - the first person to be buried there at the wish of his family.

There are also more than 90 settler outposts - built without official authorisation from the Israeli government - across the West Bank, according to an Israeli anti-settlement watchdog.

Hundreds attended Shevah's funeral at Havat Gilad.

The attack took place near Havat Gilad, an unauthorized Israeli settlement outpost near Nablus.

The new settlement project will erase the Green Line and disconnect the West Bank to prevent the establishment of a viable Palestinian state, the ministry said in a statement, Xinhua reported.

Nablus is the largest Palestinian city in the West Bank with a population over 150,000.

Hamas issued a statement late Tuesday night praising the attack.

16-year-old Amir Abd el Hamid was shot in the chest by Israeli security forces near the border fence east of Al-Bureij camp in central Gaza, following protests against US President Donald Trump's controversial recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital.

In their tweets, Friedman and Bennett were referring to a policy known as "pay to slay", whereby Palestinian Authority laws determine how much terrorists receive as a government pension for carrying out terror attacks against Israelis.

Israeli officials say payments to the families of attackers encourages further violence and have regularly called for a halt to them.

Israel's defence ministry claimed the Palestinian Authority had paid out 1.2 billion shekels (USD 350 million), or seven per cent of the PA's annual budget, in 2017 as part of the policy.
