Alex Trebek Takes 'Jeopardy!' Break After Brain Surgery

Jeopardy!’ host Alex Trebek on medical leave after brain surgery to remove blood clots

Trebek posted a video on YouTube explaining he spent two days in the hospital following the surgery and is now recovering at home.

He explained that he suffered the subdural hematoma, or blood clots on the brain after the injury about two months ago. Trebek, 77, underwent surgery in December after he hit his head during a fall, which caused some bleeding outside the brain.

"Some of you may have heard by now that during the holiday break I had a slight medical problem".

Tapings of "Jeopardy!" have been put on hold while host Alex Trebek recuperates from surgery.

Trebek has been the host of Jeopardy! since 1984, and appears to have every intention to continue his hosting duties once he has fully recovered.

"Surgery was performed", he said "After two days in the hospital I came home and started recovery". "Jeopardy!" producer Sony Pictures Entertainment told NBC News that they expect Trebek to be back in the studio in mid-January. Each episode is taped months in advance, so there are plenty of finished episodes that haven't aired yet.
