SA tourist dies in Egypt balloon crash: ministry official

The remains of a hot air balloon is seen on the ground near the ancient city of Luxor after a fatal crash

Spokesman of Egypt's Ministry of Health Jaled Migahet confirmed the deceased was 36 years of age, though he refused to comment on the nationality of the victim.

In September 2016, Egypt suspended hot air balloons flights over Luxor due to poor weather conditions that led to the injury of tens of tourists in a balloon crash landings.

A number of officials who have been quoted by Al-Ahram on condition of anonymity said the incident was caused by strong winds that caused the balloon to fall.

About 20 people were on board when the accident occurred on Friday.
