Man Arrested With Guns Ammo in Houston Hotel Room Police

The hotel is planning a huge New Year's Eve party tonight, with celebrations across four floors and live music.

They also found other weapons in his pickup truck which has been towed away. Here's a timeline of how that arrest happened: About 1:00 a.m.: An off-duty police officer encountered a man in the hotel lobby.

Houston police made a potentially disturbing arrest overnight, one that led to the discovery of a small arsenal and lots of ammunition in a hotel room.

Responding officers found a rifle, shotgun and handgun in his room, including ammunition, according to Police Lt. Gordon Macintosh. His room overlooked a planned New Year's Celebration in Houston's downtown expected to draw large crowds, according to local reports. Police were called to the Hyatt Regency after the man had too much to drink and refused to leave the bar.
