Instagram is changing your feed again, this time with 'recommended' posts

New Instagram test adds posts your friends like into your feed

Just this month, they actually let users follow hashtags and see posts that use this on their feed.

The new section is clearly labelled so you will clearly notice when a post is not from an account you now follow.

The new section "Recommended for You" contains three to five suggested posts and is rolling out on Android and iOS, reports suggest.

Previously recommended content was in the Explore section and would not be pushed onto the home feed. There will be a label above the post that tells you is a recommended post which is similar to how they display ads.

Coupled with the new feature, Instagram have also included a new section on its website to teach people how to control which images and videos are displayed on their timeline.

Instagram is making a huge change to the way users experience the service by introducing "Recommended" posts into their personal feeds.

Why does @instagram insist on showing me photos of "recommended" people on my feed?

This is a big change for Instagram, probably the biggest since the platform introduced its algorithm-based feed ranking instead of a chronological order.

The upside is that the "recommended posts" will neither flood your home feed not it will replace the existing posts.

You know the way Instagram is mostly about likes and less about the comments etc?

If you set your account to private, the hashtags you follow will only be visible to your followers. The social media platform did not give any clear indications on when exactly will the new update be fully available to all its users. Now, as an Instagram subscriber, you will start to receive posts in a new section called "Recommended for You", even if they are from people whom you do not follow. On the Stores screen, just swipe through the options at the bottom until you get to Hands-Free.
