Amanda Davis a veteran Atlanta CBS46 morning anchor has died after suffering a 'massive spontaneous stroke' while en route to her stepfather's funeral.

According a family friend, Davis was at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport on Tuesday, headed to San Antonio following the death of her father, when the medical episode happened. Davis was also honored with the Keenan's Kids Foundation Media Award for her work with "Wednesday's Child", a segment on Fox5 dedicated to helping foster children in Atlanta to find families. "Amanda's friends and colleagues at CBS 46 are praying for her family", the station reported in a brief statement on its website. She helped launch "Good Day Atlanta" as a host in 1992 before going to evenings.

She was arrested and charged with DUI after driving the wrong way on Piedmont Avenue in Midtown Atlanta in 2012 while she was at WAGA.

In Davis' last tweet on December 20, she thanked her friend Debbie Turman for sending flowers after the death of her father. And she marveled over the three-part series Davis did in 2016 about her alcoholism. She does leave behind a daughter. She captioned it, "Stay strong, keep praising the Lord ❤️" The comment thread is now filled with expressions of grief about Davis' own death.

Davis had also shared a Facebook post about celebrating Christmas after losing a loved one.

Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed expressed his thoughts via tweet: "Saddened to hear about the sudden passing of Atlanta news icon, Amanda Davis". "I'm here to say I fell down, hard, but I got back up. Rest well", wrote one man. "Grew up with Amanda Davis". I grew up watching her. On Wednesday, she passed away.
