Trump attacks reporter over already-deleted crowd size tweet

Washington Post reporter apologizes for 'bad tweet' after Trump calls him out

The president added another account of the mainstream media's "fake news" campaign created to tear down his presidency and did not hesitate to put the Washington Post reporter on the spot for disseminating false information about his "Make America Great Again" event.

Attendance at the Pensacola rally became an issue after Trump called out Weigel, the Washington Post reporter, for his tweet, and the dispute surfaced again at the White House press briefing on Monday afternoon. I deleted the photo after @dmartosko told me I'd gotten it wrong. "Very fair to call me out", Weigel later tweeted.

She said in a statement: "Dave Weigel relied on an inaccurate image in tweeting about President Trump's rally in Pensacola".

Supporters watch as US President Donald Trump speaks during a rally at the Pensacola Bay Center on December 8, 2017 in Pensacola, Florida.

"Trump tweeted "@DaveWeigel @WashingtonPost put out a phony photo of an empty arena hours before I arrived @ the venue, w/ thousands of people outside, on their way in.

The Post journalist Weigel, who is known to regularly post humorous takes on the news on his Twitter account, came under fire on Saturday for sharing a deceptive photo and caption regarding the crowd size at a recent Republican rally in Pensacola, Florida. "Demand apology and retraction from FAKE NEWS WaPo!", Trump tweeted.

Weigel had deleted the tweet after 20 minutes, and apologized for posting the image-but the president still demanded that he be fired.

Soon after the apology, Trump said Weigel should be fired.

Blitzboks lose to Kiwis in Sevens semi-final
But the Kiwis regained control and a late Sione Molia score sealed success and second place behind the Americans. After a first-up 36-12 victory over Spain, the Aussies lost 31-14 to the U.S. and 35-12 to the Kiwis.

Earlier on Saturday Trump resumed his attacks on "fake news" organizations, after CNN had issued a correction for a story about the Russian Federation probe.

"Arena was packed to the rafters, the crowd was loud, loving and really smart", he said. "They definitely get what's going on".

Weigel quickly deleted the tweet after another journalist pointed out his error.

Also Friday, CNN corrected an erroneous report that Donald Trump Jr. had received advance notice from the anti-secrecy group WikiLeaks about a trove of hacked documents that it planned to release during last year's presidential campaign. "And when he was later addressed by the president on Twitter, he promptly apologized for it", the post's VP of communications Kristine Coratti Kelly said. The emphasis is that of the president and not of the Round Table. Instead, they all make excuses for the inexcusable and attack the president as though he does not have his own free speech rights, as though the elite media is exempt from criticism.

On Friday, Trump called ABC News's Brian Ross a "fraudster".

He continued: "CNN'S slogan is CNN, THE MOST TRUSTED NAME IN NEWS".

The reporter's latest misadventure drew the full wrath of the president, who has been notably touchy about crowd sizes at his events ever since the inauguration. However, National Park Service photos showed that there were far less attendees than former president Barack Obama's inauguration attracted in 2009.
