John Mayer hospitalized for emergency appendectomy, concert delayed

"Early this morning, Tuesday, Dec. 5th, John Mayer was admitted into the hospital for emergency appendectomy forcing the Dead & Company Dec. 5th concert in New Orleans to be postponed", the band's official Twitter account posted on Tuesday. Mayer is now in emergency surgery.

Dead & Company have two remaining dates in 2017, including the Amway Center in Orlando, FL on December 7 and the BB&T Center in Sunrise, FL on December 8.

John's fellow bandmates have all taken to social media to wish the 40-year-old a speedy recovery.

NEW YORK (AP) - A rep for John Mayer says the musician is in "good spirits" after undergoing an emergency appendectomy.

John was hospitalized early Tuesday morning according to a rep for the singer. Fans can use the tickets for the rescheduled date or get a refund.

The New Orleans show slated for Tuesday evening was the third-to-last show of the string of gigs, initially set to conclude December 8 in Sunrise, Florida.

Dead and Company - featuring Mayer along with Grateful Dead members Bob Weir, Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann - postponed a concert scheduled for Tuesday in New Orleans, saying it would be rescheduled.

It's not clear when the tour will resume.
