Trump Reportedly Suggests the 'Access Hollywood' Tape Was Fake

Charles Barkley Support from Bannon should have disqualified Roy Moore

Will NBC News redeem itself, after getting scooped on its own big stories - twice - with a definitive report on the authenticity of NBCU's Access Hollywood tape that President Donald Trump now suggests is fake? "The tape is very real", host Natalie Morales said alongside Kit Hoover on "Access Hollywood" Monday.

Morales, who replaced fired Access Hollywood host Billy Bush, stressed that Trump uttered "every one of those" words while signing off from the entertainment show.

The Times reported, however, that Trump "suggested to a senator earlier this year" that the recording was "not authentic" and later "repeated that claim to an adviser more recently".

The New York Times reports that's part of the reasoning behind his staunch support of Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore, who has been accused of pursuing and molesting underage girls four decades ago, despite Moore's near-universal disavowal by Senate Republicans.

And, on Monday, the Times' White House reporter Maggie Haberman said a third person has reported Trump's doubts over that being his voice on the tape. "No one's that much of an idiot".

Anyone who knows me knows these words don't reflect who I am.

The tape, during which Trump says "Grab them by the p***y", prompted outrage in the month leading up to the US election.

"Looking back upon what was said on that bus, I wish I had changed the topic". Shortly after it was leaked in October 2016, Trump acknowledged his comments and apologized for them. I apologized to my family, I apologized to the American people.

But Access Hollywood isn't having it.

Late last week, a number of USA outlets - citing sources from inside the White House - reported that Donald Trump had claimed on two separate occasions that the Access Hollywood tapes weren't real. He apologized for the vulgarity calling it simply "locker room talk".

"The last thing we need in Alabama and the U.S. Senate is a Schumer/Pelosi puppet who is WEAK on Crime, WEAK on the Border, Bad for our Military and our great Vets, Bad for our 2nd Amendment, AND WANTS TO RAISES TAXES TO THE SKY". Certainly I'm not proud of it. "I think if anything that the President questions, it's the media's reporting on that accuracy".
