Variety reports that Cassidy has organ failure, but his representative did not confirm the reason for 1970s teen idol's hospitalisation.

David Cassidy has been hospitalized for liver and kidney failure and is now in critical condition, his rep confirms to PEOPLE. They were also told he's suffering from kidney failure.

TMZ said that Cassidy, 67, was admitted to a Florida hospital three days before and that his condition had worsened since then. Cassidy's representative tells People he needs a liver transplant.

Back in March, the actor revealed he was battling dementia and was planning to quit live shows to focus on his health.
