Special counsel's interest in Mike Flynn comes into sharper focus

Special Counsel Robert Mueller is reportedly probing the plan to kidnap a cleric put him on a private plane and fly him to a Turkish prison island- in which the two Flynn would be paid $15 million

Despite reports indicating Special Prosecutor Robert Mueller has more than enough evidence to indict ex-White House National Security Advisor Michael Flynn and his son, no charges have been filed publicly.

Flynn was sacked after just 24 days as Trump's national security adviser over misleading Vice President Mike Pence about his conversations with Russia's ambassador to the U.S., Sergey Kislyak.

Rohrabacher, a California Republican who has become notorious for his efforts to advance Russian interests as a member of the United States Congress, recently had his travel privileges restricted over fears that he has been compromised by Russian intelligence officials.

The alleged December meeting followed one on September 19 attended by people including Berat Albayrak, who is Turkey's energy minister and the son-in-law of Erdogan, and Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu, according to the Journal.

Under the alleged proposal, Flynn and his son, Michael Flynn Jr., were to be paid as much as $15 million for delivering Fethullah Gulen to the Turkish government, people familiar with a private meeting between Flynn and Turkish government representatives told WSJ. Flynn has denied the allegation.

His lawyer later said Mr Flynn did not register because he was working for a Turkish businessman, rather than a government official.

Russian Lawyer: Trump, Jr. Offered a Quid Pro Quo on Sanctions
The U.S. law targeting Russian Federation was called the Magnitsky law and was passed in response to Magnitsky's death. Veselnitskaya has claimed the tax information she was peddling at the Trump Tower meeting relates to the firm.

Let's note for context that Flynn, after getting caught lying about his interactions with Russian Federation, parted ways with Trump's White House just three weeks into Trump's presidency.

The December meeting about Mr Gulen was also reported on Friday by NBC.

It is unclear how Flynn, as national security adviser, could have successfully carried out either alleged request.

Flynn is a central figure in Mueller's investigation because of conversations he had with then-Russian ambassador Sergei Kislyak a year ago and because he waited until March to retroactively register with the Justice Department as a foreign agent for the work he did for a Turkish businessman.

He registered as a foreign agent on March 7. Flynn penned an op-ed last November suggesting the USA should expel Gulen. That company turned out to be a one-man shell company owned by Ekim Alptekin, the chairman of the Turkish-U.S. Business Council, which is controlled by the Turkish government. Alptekin reportedly met with Mueller's investigators during a trip he made to the U.S.in May. Inovo eventually paid Flynn Intel a total of $530,000 for three months worth of work.

All the while new reports regarding the investigation's latest developments continue to turn up, like a recent Wall Street Journal article detailing a lucrative financial deal between the Flynns and Turkey.
