Crews filed a report at a Los Angeles Police Department station on Wednesday and since the alleged incident occurred a year ago, it is within the statute of limitations in the state of California and could lead to a criminal investigation.

TMZ reports that Crews filed a formal complaint on Wednesday against the Hollywood executive, even though he hasn't publicly named the accused. The actor tells the publication that he plans on filing not only a lawsuit but a criminal charge, for an undecided amount.

Venit, who is said to represent actors Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Gal Gadot and Sylvester Stallone, has since been placed on leave, Variety reported on Friday.

Crews went public with his story last month as allegations against Harvey Weinstein began to surface.

In early October, the Brooklyn Nine-Nine star revealed on Twitter the details of an incident in which he alleges a "high level Hollywood executive" groped him.

"This whole thing with Harvey Weinstein is giving me PTSD", he recalled in the first of a series of tweets.

We reached out to Venit's rep. they had no comment. "Black Man stomps out Hollywood Honcho' would be the headline the next day", he noted.

Crews has declined to name the man he claims assaulted him.

Crews tweeted that he talked to everyone he knew about the incident, and the exec even called him the day after to apologize, but "never really explained why he did what he did".

He continued: "I let it go".

"I was going to kick his ass right then - but I thought twice about how the whole thing would appear", Crews tweeted.

At that time, he concluded by saying, "I understand and empathise with those who have remained silent".
