Video Shows Officer Punch Woman Who Slapped Him at UM Game

WATCH: Cop Punches 'Drunk' Woman at University of Miami Football Game

A review is underway by the Miami Police Department after a video circulated on social media showing a violent altercation between a fan and a cop during a University of Miami football game on Sunday.

"After responding to a disturbance, the person in the video was being removed from the event by our officers for being disorderly". The officer then responded by delivering a huge punch to the woman's face, to the surprise of the crowd.

Miami-Dade Police Detective Alvaro Zabaleta said in an email to the Associated Press that the department is "gathering all of the details to gain a clear understanding of what occurred" during the altercation at Hard Rock Stadium during Miami's win Saturday over Virginia Tech.

The woman's first attempt to hit the officer, who was holding her right leg, failed.

"Supervisory personnel are aware of the video, and are reviewing the incident to ensure compliance with our policies and procedures".

Miami-Dade Police identified the woman as 30-year-old Bridget Freitas.
