Ezekiel Elliott playing for Cowboys after all, just like Chiefs planned

Running Back Darren Mc Fadden looks on as Alfred Morris runs a drill at Wednesday’s practice

A panel of federal judges will convene next week to hear Elliott's request for an injunction that overturns Judge Katherine Polk Failla's ruling from Monday.

If the case continues, the question becomes: Could Elliott be suspended for playoff games if the Cowboys earn a berth, even though the suspension clearly states he is suspended for six regular-season games?

"I've just got to trust my (legal) team and trust that they're going to do everything they can do to the best of their ability to make sure I'm able to play ball".

At 8:58 a.m. on Friday morning, Ezekiel Elliott got a phone call from his agent telling him to get to practice.

"No", Elliott said. "This is bigger than a suspension".

However, according to Dan Graziano of ESPN, Cowboys fans can rejoice for the time being, as earlier today, the Second Circuit Court granted Elliott a temporary stay of his suspension, meaning he is eligible to play in the team's Week 9 game against the Kansas City Chiefs this weekend.

"Glad he's going to be out there", Jones said after a plaque was given in his honor to North Texas representing his induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

The NFL argued roughly 100 players have been suspended for approximately 500 games over the past season and a half, therefore "Elliott's claim of irreparable injury is indistinguishable from those that could be made by 100 other players".

Elliott and his legal team have been fighting the National Football League over the six-game suspension handed down to him for an alleged domestic violence incident.

Chiefs coach Andy Reid admitted uncertainty, and a degree of indifference, about the situation. He was never charged with a crime by the Columbus, Ohio, authorities who investigated the allegations.

The Cowboys prepared Alfred Morris to be the starting running back with Darren McFadden and Rod Smith serving as backups prior to the reversal. "We look forward to the challenge of playing him". They face a Chiefs team that is 6-2 and leads the AFC West.

When asked what he thought about the NFL's opinion on the matter, Elliott indicated that he wouldn't go quietly if it came down to that. Through seven games this year, he's rushed for 690 yards and six touchdowns. He's been very productive for us from the first game he's played.
