Five reasons why Venus Williams will win the WTA Finals

Williams was the second-ranked player in the White Group, having bounced back from an opening day defeat against Karolina Pliskova. We saw against Caroline Garcia that perhaps a flat start meant a change in tactics. Nonetheless, Garcia was the more active player in the early stages, grabbing the confidence-boosting hold. She had a set point before we got to the tiebreaker. I was down 4-2 but broke back straightaway. The first set was very tight and Williams stayed in touch after saving 6 out of 7 break points, only to fall short in the tie break.

"She's improved her game so much".

Williams - at 37, the oldest woman to ever reach the final - lost 6-4 6-4. French girl won the grueling first set that lasted more than hour but Venus found the strength to make a comeback, saving 3 break points in each of the last 2 sets to keep the pressure on her rival, breaking Garcia 3 times in total to prevail and book the place in the final, her 3rd of the season after the Australian Open and Wimbledon. Still, she had a few more set points and I managed to win that first set. Of course, I had a lot of respect for her.

It was a tricky start to the second set for Williams as many thought that she would run out of steam, conceding two break points in the opening game.

Svitolina went for her shots and dictated from the back of the court, rattling a shaky Halep, who had suffered a big loss to Wozniacki in her previous match.

This was the 3rd meeting between these two and it was a very competitive match, maybe not the best in terms of quality but the crowd could really enjoy from start to finish.

Khloe Kardashian Hides Baby Bump Again With Oversized Good American Hoodie?
Photos of the reality TV star wearing an oversized hoodie of the brand surfaced online, and her baby bump is hardly visible. The baby will be the 33-year-old's first child with Thompson, People said.

It appeared to be one-way traffic in the second set, with Williams looking heavy in the legs and no longer able to attack Wozniacki at the net.

The crowd wanted more but Wozniacki was not prepared to comply with their demands, breaking again to seal victory on her second match point with a backhand victor down the line and tossing her racket in the air as she celebrated a stunning win.

"Every time I thought I had her, she would play awesome shots... but it's never over until the fat lady sings and I'm not fat", joked Williams, who won the tournament in 2008.

A huge backhand down-the-line finally sealed the break for the American, who earned the golden opportunity to serve for the match.

And the Dane backed that fine serving up with only eight unforced errors in the final. However, the best serves from Williams were only produced during the critical moments as she served an ace, which barely clipped the line, but Garcia also tensed up during these situations as she sent yet another big forehand return wide.

In doing so, she leapfrogged Pliskova in the WTA rankings and picked up her 60th win of a terrific season.
