Kedarnath: What Narendra Modi had actually proposed in 2013 for shrine reconstruction

Shah'Congress has failed to place electricity poles in the villages of Gujarat for 60 years

JSW group that is led by Sajjan Jindal went into an agreement with the government of Uttarakhand in order to restore the temple sites of Kedarnath that was damaged due to the heavy floods that hit Uttarakhand in the year 2013.

The Congress accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of "disrespecting" traditions during his Kedarnath visit and "misleading" the people on redevelopment work of the shrine after the 2013 deluge.

Mr Modi said, "They (UPA government) viewed this with a kind of alarm as they thought the Gujarat CM will now reach Kedarnath, and mounted pressure on the then state government not to agree to my request". PM Modi was welcomed by Uttarakhand Governor K K Paul, Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat and other officials at the airport before he headed for the Himalayan shrine. And I announced it outside in the media.

Vijay Bahuguna who is now a member of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was in Congress when he was the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand in 2013.

Security has been tightened around the Jollygrant airport where the prime minister is likely to arrive at around 8.30 am before leaving for Kedarnath. After the 2013 disaster, is it only Modiji who is capable of redeveloping Uttarakhand?

"I expressed my wish to carry out reconstruction work at Kedarnath to the then chief minister of the state who agreed in principle".

Kedarnath: Prime Minister Narendra Mod being felicitated on his visit to Kedarnath in Uttarakhand on Friday.

The Prime minister also laid the foundation stones of five reconstruction projects at Kedarnath.

Slamming the tactics used by Congress to stop him from laying a helping hand to the shrine which badly needed to be revamped after the floods wreaked havoc on it, Modi said, "I came here to do all that I could for the victims".

The works he inaugurated include construction of residence for the local priests and a museum of Adi Shankaracharya.

Narendra Modi said, "Reconstruction of Kedarpuri, with improved facilities for devotees, will be expensive but there will be no dearth of funds". We are building quality infrastructure in Kedarnath.

"The central government is taking steps to ensure that resources of the mountains are pooled in for development of only the mountains", he added.
