Ford announces recall of 1.3 million vehicles due to door latch issue

Ford is recalling 1.3 million vehicles to fix a problem with doors and waterproofing

Ford previously recalled almost 4 million vehicles for door latch issues in six separate recalls since 2014, including 2.4 million vehicles recalled in August 2016.

The problem is a door latch issue that could allow the door to open while the truck is in motion.

The average transaction price for a new pickup in 2016 topped $39,000, and it could rise with the introduction earlier this month of Ford's Super Duty Limited vehicles that start at $80,235 for an F-250, $82,010 for an F-350 and $87,100 for an F-450.

To prevent frozen door latches before old man winter comes around, Ford will install water shields over the latches, in addition to fixing any broken actuation cables, free of charge.

Ford's F-150 pickup truck is one of the country's most popular vehicles and a perennial best-seller.

We are in a difficult situation but …. - Everton boss Koema
With 15 minutes left, Newcastle's Florian Lejeune needlessly fouled Shane Long and Gabbiadini drilled in the spot-kick. There was nothing to separate the old friends in a hard-fought clash, with the first goal coming in the 20th minute.

Even if customers are able to open and close the door, that latch may not fully engage, meaning the door could fling open while driving, Ford warned.

The auto company says they have not heard of any injuries due to this issue.

The recall affects 2015-2017 model-year F-150s that were built at the Dearborn Assembly Plant between March 12, 2014 and December 31, 2016, as well as ones built at Ford's Kansas City Assembly Plant between August 11, 2014 and December 30, 2016.

Weigandt said Ford's decision to issue a recall is driven by data.

Despite the hit, Ford said that it still expected to earn between $1.65 and $1.85 per share for the full year.
