United Nations warns Bangladesh Rohingya camp plan runs risk of disease spread

Will resolve Rohingya issue with Myanmar peacefully Bangladesh

More than half a million Rohingyas have fled to Bangladesh since a counter-insurgency offensive by Myanmar's army in the wake of militant attacks on security forces in late August.

In a statement posted on its Twitter feed, the salvation Army of the Rohingya of the Arakan (ARSA) explains that the truce will end on October 9th at midnight.

Hasina said Bangladesh took an appropriate stance to draw global community's attention to the Rohingya crisis which also compelled Myanmar to open talks on the issue.

"If at any stage the Burmese government is inclined to peace, then Arsa will welcome that inclination and reciprocate".

Myanmar's government spokesman did not respond to requests for comment on Saturday but has previously said the country does not "negotiate with terrorists".

A top United Nations official says building a mega refugee camp for Rohingya Muslims in Bangladesh would run the risk of health and security woes.

The aid agencies appealed last week for 434 million USA dollars to support the refugees and local community for the next six months.

The Bangladesh government revealed earlier this week about 5,000 Rohingay Muslims are crossing the border daily.

The IOC's reputation had already been badly tarnished by Rio 2016 , even before these latest corruption allegations. The IOC asked the Brazilian authorities for more information about the case.

More than 500 000 Rohingya people have crossed Myanmar's border into Bangladesh, making this the world's fastest-developing refugee emergency.

Hasina said Bangladesh made makeshift arrangement for shifting Rohingya Muslims to an island called "Bhasan Char" from Cox's Bazar, Media reports. While the worst of the violence appears to have abated, insecurity, food shortages and tensions with Buddhist neighbours are still driving thousands of Rohingya to make the arduous trek to Bangladesh.

Khan said Bangladesh wants to "send back all Rohingya to Myanmar successfully".

By concentrating too many people in one space, a refugee camp of such size leaves enough scope for deadly diseases to spread like wildfire.

The Rohingya, a stateless mostly Muslim ethnic minority, have long faced persecution in Rakhine in northern Myanmar (Burma).

Watkins said there would be a huge risk of fire spreading easily across a big camp of refugees, adding that Bangladesh should instead look for new sites to build more camps.

According to the IOM, the proposed camp will be the world's largest, dwarfing Bidi Bidi in Uganda and Dadaab in Kenya, which both house around 300,000 refugees.
