Hurricane Jose may threaten Northeast next week

Hurricane Jose strengthens slightly 500 miles south of Bermuda: NHC

The latest Hurricane Jose forecast continues to show the storm moving up the East Coast, with potential impact in store for New England by the middle of next week.

The newest addition to the Atlantic, Tropical Storm Maria was officially named by the NHC on Saturday afternoon, as it became better organized and strengthened.

All the while, Maria is also joined by Tropical Storm Lee, a system forming about 720 miles west of the African country of Cape Verde.

The storm was centered about 485 miles (785 kilometers) southwest of Bermuda on Friday, with maximum sustained winds of 75 mph (120 kph).

The U.S. National Hurricane Center in Miami said in its 5 a.m. Sunday update that tropical storm watches were possible for the U.S. East Coast over the next day or so and advised people from North Carolina to New England to monitor Jose's progress.

Jose, formerly a Category 3 hurricane, is expected to produce rip currents and high-surf along portions of the USA east coast. Its forecast track is very similar to the one Hurricane Irma took two weeks ago.

Maria is expected to track towards the Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and Hispaniola during the midweek and will deliver flooding rain, damaging winds and mudslides.

Page Six also confirmed the news, reporting that the young star was around four months pregnant. "Her family really likes him". TMZ reports that the Keeping Up with the Kardashians sister and her boyfriend, Travis Scott , are about to become parents.

Jose, a Category 1 Hurricane, continues to get closer to the northeastern states. Lee is a tropical storm and unlike Maria is not encountering favorable conditions in the far Western Atlantic. Tropical storm watches may be issued on the east coast, the center said in its latest advisory. Reports are showing that early next week could be when Hurricane Jose will hit the eastern coast of the us, and people are starting to prepare for it.

Jose had maximum sustained winds of 80 miles per hour.

A third storm, Lee, has been downgraded to a tropical depression.

The US National Hurricane Center said Maria was likely to grow into a hurricane on Sunday and swell into major hurricane status by midweek as it heads for Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic and Haiti.

"However, an increase in the size of the storm or a westward adjustment in the track forecast could bring tropical storm conditions closer to the Outer Banks" off North Carolina, the forecaster said.

"Gradual weakening is expected, and Lee could degenerate into a remnant low by 48 hours, is not sooner", NHC forecaster Robbie Berg said.
