British Airways flight held at Paris airport over security threat

Armed police individually searched all the passengers while sniffer dogs checked the aircraft

Police and fire engines have surrounded a British Airways flight on the tarmac of Charles De Gaulle Airport in Paris as a result of a security threat.

Flight BA0303 was due to leave Charles de Gaulle airport at 7.25 but was evacuated on the tarmac.

Sniffer dogs checked the plane and found no threat, police said as they lifted the alert.

Flight number BA0303 was held on the tarmac at Charles de Gaulle and surrounded by police and fire vehicles at around 8am United Kingdom time this morning.

James told metro.co.uk that initially the pilot said there were technical issues as the plane was held on the runway for an hour. "Extremely calm and composed, handled the situation wonderfully".

The British Airways flight was later cleared to take-off after a thorough check.

However, it is still unclear what the "direct threat" was that led to the whole episode.
