Trump Defends Pardoning Former Sheriff Arpaio

Sean Hannity Michelle Malkin slap Sheriff Joe Arpaio critics with this blistering reminder

Rep. Justin Amash (R-Mich.), a frequent Trump critic, tweeted that Trump had pardoned a government official "who ignored [the] Bill of Rights". "I assumed the ratings would be far higher than they would be normally".

During a press conference with Finish President Sauli Niinistö, Trump said that he made a decision to announce Arpaio's pardon on Friday night because he thought the attention on Hurricane Harvey would help it get better ratings.

The request comes as Arpaio-convicted earlier this summer for criminal contempt after refusing to stop profiling undocumented immigrants-attempts to re-enter public life, following Donald Trump's pardon last week. The White House announced the move Friday night, August 25, 2017, saying the 85-year-old ex-sheriff of Arizona's Maricopa County was a "worthy candidate" for a presidential pardon.

Trump characterized Arpaio as "very strong on illegal immigration".

Trump described Apaio as "loved in Arizona" despite the fact that only 21 percent of state residents approved of his pardon.

Noah brought up how Democrats and Republicans alike have condemned the Arpaio pardon, adding that the former sheriff claimed he was anti-illegal immigration but is "really just anti-being a decent human being".

Trump has long promised a border wall along America's southern border, stating since the first day of his campaign that Mexico would pay for it.

Northern Illinois Red Cross ready to help hurricane victims
Continuing rains and flash floods are being dealt with. "When they need the most help and they have no idea who to reach out to". It is the most powerful storm to hit the United States in 13 years, and the worst storm to hit Texas since 1961.

"I wonder if you could tell us what was behind your thinking for issuing the pardon for the Sheriff", Fox News' John Roberts told the president.

Criminal leaker. You've heard the word "leaker"?

He also criticized Obama for commuting the sentence of Oscar Lopez Rivera, who had been serving a 55-year federal prison sentence for being a leader of the Puerto Rican terrorist group FALN. Trump also mentioned Chelsea Manning, who leaked sensitive diplomatic documents to Wikileaks and whose sentence President Barack Obama commuted in January.

"I could run for mayor, I could run for legislator, I could run for Senate", the 85-year-old told the conservative-leaning news outlet. "If it's necessary, we'll have to see".

In an apparent response, Trump said he picked that time because he hoped the hurricane would help more people to hear about the pardon on TV.

Asked if he viewed Russian Federation as a security threat, Trump demurred, saying he views many nations as security threats, but declining to mention Russian Federation by name.

"There's a story out from a Washington newspaper, they interviewed me, that asks whether I'm back in politics again", Arpaio said.
