Qatar Restores Iran Ties

Qatar's is officially returning its ambassador to Iran

Despite the Arab nations' indignation, Qatar restored full diplomatic ties with Iran earlier today and vowed to strengthen bilateral relations with the country "in all areas" the tiny emirate had recalled its ambassador from Tehran in 2016 when Saudi diplomatic missions were attacked in Iran after Saudi Arabia executed a Shiite cleric.

A short Foreign Ministry statement issued early Thursday reversed course, saying Qatar's ambassador soon would return to Iran.

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif told local media the visits would take place after this year's hajj pilgrimage to Mecca in Saudi Arabia, which is due to start at the beginning of September.

Meanwhile, Chad said it is closing Qatar's embassy and giving its diplomats 10 days to leave the country, accusing the Gulf Arab state of trying to destabilize the central African nation via its northern neighbor Libya.

Qatar's official television station has counted almost 1,100 articles and 600 cartoons in Saudi Arabia, the Emirates and Bahrain's media, as well as 3,500 tweets by officials and journalists from those countries.

Since the diplomatic dispute with Arab nations began in June, Iran has sent food shipments to Qatar.

Iran has helped Qatar cope with the trade and travel restrictions.

The Arab countries allied with Saudi Arabia blame Doha of interfering in the domestic affairs of other states and sponsoring terrorism, an accusation Qatar has rejected as "groundless".

Mediation attempts led by countries such as Kuwait and the USA have so far failed to make headway toward settling the crisis.

However, the two countries maintained commercial ties, particularly their joint operation of the world's largest gas field, called the South Pars Field by Iran and the North Field by Qatar. Comparing to other two Gulf states, UAE has the highest number of violations with regard to the right of education with 61 percent of the violations (130 out of total 213 education related complaints).

"The management of the crisis caused the burning of bridges, the squandering of sovereignty and the deepening of the Qatari crisis and undermined what remained of the mediator's chances", he snapped.

"The wisdom that we hoped for was completely absent", he added.

They've also demanded Qatar close Al Jazeera, reduce ties with Iran and shut its Turkish military base if it wants the blockade to end. She declined to comment on the restoration of Doha-Tehran ties.
