SA police looking for Grace Mugabe over assault case

Grace Mugabe, the first lady of Zimbabwe who has always been rumored to take over for her husband as the country's next president, turned herself in to South African police on Tuesday after a model accused her of physical assault.

Amid confusion over the case and investigation, the police statement said yesterday's abortive court hearing was meant to obtain a statement from Ms Mugabe, along with her version of the events.

Zimbabwean First Lady Grace Mugabe's lawyers believe that she qualifies for diplomatic immunity in the assault case against her, South African police say.

Naidoo said that the negotiations that led to an earlier statement by police minister Fikile Mbalula that Mugabe had handed herself over didn't materialise as planned.

The determined young lady who had gone into the hotel where Grace Mugabe attacked her at the invitation of Bellamine one of Mugabe's sons claims she did not know that the boy was Mugabe's son neither that Grace was Mugabe's wife until after the incident.

The Zimbabwean Mail reported the First Lady was in the country to have her foot looked at after an incident at the Harare International airport a few weeks ago.

Engels posted several photos on social media showing a gash in her forehead, which she called a result of the alleged encounter. "My two friends and I were beat up in a room with 10+ men leaving her to do it", she tweeted with references to Mrs Mugabe's bodyguards. "I only found out this after I came out the hotel room".

South Africa's News24 reports that Mrs. Mugabe cooperated with the police and was therefore not arrested.

She regularly speaks at rallies in Zimbabwe and is seen as a possible contender to take over from her increasingly frail husband.

The NFP said it had noted with "serious disappointment the alleged savagely cruel act of Zimbabwe's First Lady Grace Mugabe".

Chargers eyeing October debut for rookie WR Mike Williams
The Chargers drafted the 6-foot-4 star in hopes he could bolster a unit that has already been ravaged by injuries in recent years. Williams' back has reportedly responded well to rest and rehab, which means he will likely be able to avoid surgery.

Police spokesperson Brigadier Vishnu Naidoo said on Tuesday police had been "negotiating" with the legal representatives of the suspect in the assault case.

Grace was one of Mugabe's secretaries when their affair began in 1987, and they had two children in secret before the president's wife died in 1992.

"Grace Mugabe must sit down with her errant sons and teach them common decency and good behaviour".

Her two sons have been causing chaos in Sandton recently, and they were evicted from their luxury accommodation last month for excessive partying and ill behaviour.

"If she went back, I just hope the police can do something to get her back", Engels told The Associated Press. Engels was quoted as saying by the Guardian.

Richard Jones claimed the Zimbabwean first lady flew into a rage when she saw him outside the five-star Kowloon Shangri-la Hotel where she was staying.

"Our position is she must go to court", Mothiba said.

Zimbabwe government sources confirmed on Tuesday that Mrs Mugabe had returned home.

Engels said hotel staff escorted her out of the hotel.
