Recall issued for Samsung Galaxy Note 4 batteries

Samsung Galaxy S8 Active official with'military-grade specs

The image above shows the blue color-clad Note 8 with the same background on the phone's bezel-less display as we saw on the last leaked color. Apparently, those batteries were made by a third-party and are considered counterfeit - Samsung would not be able to claim liability for burns and related damages if one of those cells did malfunction.

If this sounds familiar, it's because it was only last September that Samsung issued a recall of all Galaxy Note 7s due to a similar problem. A recall notice posted on the Consumer Product Safety Commission website says that some of the batteries installed in the refurbished phones are counterfeit and are at risk of overheating.

Meanwhile, an official launch date has yet to be announced by Samsung, previous reports have indicated the device will release on the 15th of September.

Unfortunately, there is a new battery controversy surrounding the Galaxy Note line. FedEx Supply Chain is sending out new batteries to consumers who received the Note 4s between December 2016 and April 2017.

Grab cheap PlayStation games in new Humble Bundle
Those who pay 20 will find themselves with two PlayStation Vita games, seven PlayStation 3 games, and three PlayStation 4 games. PS3 title The Bureau: XCOM Declassified plus all DLC along with Evolve for PS4 is included at this price.

In a statement to the press, Samsung has clearly said that this particular recall is being done by FedEx Supply Chain.

Around 10,000 batteries are being recalled and the commission urges those with the phones to stop using them and turn them off.

A rep for Samsung tells The Verge that the company did not make the batteries. The Note 4 is the last phone in the Note series to feature a removable battery; users can just pop off the back casing and swap out packs. The refurbishment program was managed by them and it was independent of Samsung.

These "S-buds" may be bundled with the Note8 but would also be available for seperate purchase to use with the Galaxy S8 devices. Any affected owners should contact FedEx Supply Chain at 1-800-338-0163 or go online at www.exchangemybattery.com for more information.
