Scaramucci criticizes President Trump's response to the violence in Charlottesville

Members of white nationalists clash against a group of counter-protesters in Charlottesville Virginia U.S

During the interview, his first sitdown TV interview since he left the White House after 10 days on the job, Scaramucci also told ABC he believed chief strategist Steve Bannon was one of the White House's biggest problems.

"The whole thing is nonsensical", he added.

Scaramucci also seemed to suggest that Bannon is leaking information to serve his own interests, and that Trump "knows what he's going to do with Steve Bannon".

During ABC News' livestream interview after This Week, Scaramucci was asked if he believes Bannon is a white supremacist or white nationalist. "It's his decision. But I mean at the end of the day, I think the president has a very good idea of who the leakers are inside the White House".

Interviewer George Stephanopoulos asked him who he was referred to, but Mr Scaramucci said only that he had already "named some names". If he does that, he'll have a successful legislative agenda that he can execute.

The comments come as a source inside the White House tells CNN that White House chief of staff John Kelly has soured on Bannon, a political operative with deep ties to the "alt-right" and the former head of the conservative news site Breitbart.

Numerous combatants on both sides wore helmets and held shields, and some in the crowd brandished wooden poles. Craig Brown disagreed, saying the statements were simply councilors exercising their First Amendment rights.

Speaking on why President Trump failed to condemn white supremacists after the Charlottesville incidents on Friday night and Saturday morning, Scaramucci urged him to "hit [them] harder" and mused that "the moderates and the independents... that want to support the President, and want to help the President with his legislative agenda, I think they'll find that to be more favourable than this sort of micro Bannonbart group of people that like that sort of nonsense".

Scaramucci's frustration with Bannon was put on full display last month after New Yorker reporter Ryan Lizza published an article detailing an expletive-laced phone conversation he had with Scaramucci. "And if he doesn't do that, you're going to see inertia and you're going to see this resistance from more of the establishment senators that he needs to curry favor with".

"You didn't answer. Can you and Steve Bannon work in that same White House?" "The president has a very good idea of the people who are undermining his agenda, that are serving their own interests", Scaramucci added.

On a separate livestream later, Scaramucci said he didn't know whether Bannon was a white supremacist, but said that his embrace of white nationalists was "inexcusable".

And he particularly called out the insidious influence of Bannon and Breitbart, noting they may be partly to blame for Trump's half-hearted response. I'm accountable for the mistake.
