Lindsey Graham issues dire warning to Trump about firing Robert Mueller

"The president's lawyer said he wasn't involved at all".

Any investigation into President Trump's finances or the finances of his family would require Mueller to return to Rod Rosenstein for additional authority under Mueller's appointment as special counsel. "There's always a temptation to do that".

"Let's not jump ahead of ourselves", Christie cautioned about the president's involvement.

"Our effort here is just to take that off the table, any sort of precipitous removal, but we don't have any specific evidence to suggest that the president is going to do that", he said. "And so we don't know what his own son told him about that meeting". If there really was nothing to see here, as Trump claims, Mueller's team won't need to keep digging.

A grand jury gives prosecutors the ability to subpoena documents and gather on-the-record witness testimonies. And Mueller has impaneled a Washington-based grand jury, whose job ultimately may be to decide if there's probable cause to bring indictments against subjects of the investigation, if Mueller seeks them.

"That's a typical thing to be done in any investigation", Christie said.

However, Democratic Rep. Adam Schiff said in a separate interview on the program that while the move was "not unexpected", it was significant because it showed the investigation had reason to move forward.

White House leaks are 'threatening national security', Jeff Sessions says
The Justice Department has warned some of the information being leaked has the potential to threaten national security. Unauthorized disclosures include leaks to the media as well as to foreign adversaries, Sessions said.

On Sunday, Christie advised everyone to wait for Mueller's investigation to go through that meeting and its aftermath before drawing conclusions about it.

On ABC's "This Week", Tillis said that the legislation should not indicate that lawmakers believe Trump is moving toward dismissing Mueller.

According to a CNN article, Mueller's investigators could be looking into financial records relating to the Trump Organization that are unrelated to the 2016 election.

Asked if the bill was directed at President Trump, Tillis (R-NC.) didn't hide his concern.

On the matter of Comey's dismissal, for example, Mueller could contend that Trump himself told Russian diplomats that his goal for removing Comey was to ease the pressure on him due to the Russia investigation - even though Trump had caused the public to be told that Comey was sacked for mishandling the Hillary Clinton e-mails investigation.

But with each passing day, it's increasingly clear this investigation is neither made up nor built on fake news.

"I'm not sure that I agree with the witch hunt, and we'll let the facts lead us to whether or not it was a hoax or a distraction", Mr. Tillis said.
