Kohli hails banned Jadeja after win against Sri Lanka

India's Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane run between wickets on Day 1 of the 2nd Test against Sri Lanka at Colombo

Chandimal's overnight partner Mendis attempted to force Yadav over the infield only to be caught by Indian skipper Virat Kohli.

The source said that itinerary for the series with Sri Lanka would be announced this week.

Dishing out eight days of flawless cricket, India had outplayed Sri Lanka to clinch a rare overseas series win after just two Tests, but the enthusiasm that normally accompanies their Test triumphs outside the country was missing.

The win came some 10 minutes before the tea-break but it could have come early had KL Rahul not dropped a sitter from Dimuth Karunaratne at forward short-leg off Jadeja when the batsman was on 95.

Kusal Mendis smashed a belligerent 110 and Dimuth Karunaratne complimented with an unbeaten 92 following Sri Lanka's first innings capitulation for 183 on day three of the contest. This can happen for two sessions because of momentum but when the day (three) ended we spoke about the fact that they have to do this again for two sessions. Credit goes to them: "they batted brilliantly in the first innings and put us under huge pressure", said Chandimal. "It's all about not getting too frustrated".

Kohli now has 18 wins under his belt-only three less than India's second-most successful captain Sourav Ganguly (21). SL made the same mistakes that it had made in first Test and apart from the second innings, they were lacklustre and appalling throughout the match. We want to win anywhere that we play.

Given a surprise debut against Australia in Dharamsala, interestingly as the replacement for the injured Kohli, Kuldeep made full use of that opportunity, taking four first innings wickets.

"If we can believe enough in our abilities then we are not really bothered about where we are playing".

With the Karunaratne and Mathews partnership going strong in the opening session - in fact Karunaratne also registered his fourth Test hundred in the second innings of a Test match on Sunday morning - Kohli turned to Jadeja immediately in the post-lunch session and Jadeja did not disappoint. "I would say he's a very valuable cricketer for us", he concluded.

"All of us have, but Pujara's game has gone to another level".

He added that although the series is already lost, his team will now focus on trying to win the third test because a win against the No. 1-ranked side would provide a major confidence boost. If you see last season, continuing now, he's got about 1500 runs which is outstanding.

Team India has developed a habit of winning, irrespective of geographical boundaries, and it is hungry to extend the consistent run, said Kohli after his side's win.
