Jaitley came to execute RSS agenda: Kodiyeri

CPI (M) state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan disagrees with Governor's tweet 'Summoning' Chief Minister

After political tensions erupted in Kerala over lynching of RSS workers, Union Minister and Senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley on Sunday met family members of slain RSS worker who was recently murdered in political violence in the state. Jaitley said, "Predominantly it is the state government's responsibility to ensure peace restoration".

He even requested the Chief Minister to curb the political violence in the state and said, "I expect that the political violence in Kerala is curbed and that the perpetrators are brought to justice expeditiously".

Local leaders explained to Jaitely the concern expressed by family members, including the widow of 34-year old Rajesh, who was hacked to death on July 29 by a gang led by an alleged historysheeter. Though BJP national president Amit Shah made the party MPs raise the issue in the Lok Sabha, it also did not have any impact.

Jaitley charged the CPI-M with using its cadres to "eliminate its political opponents and creating an environment of violence" and added that the party needed to "introspect".

Parliament speaker Ogtay Asadov to attend Rouhani's inauguration
However, Iran said earlier this week that it would lodge a complaint with the commission that oversees its implementation. Iranians re-elected Rouhani as the President in the country's May, 2017 elections.

Jaitley said: "Houses of political workers and swayamsevaks have been attacked and the police in Kerala behaved like a silent spectator". Jaitley's visit is a symbolic move by the BJP to show the RSS as well as the CPM that incidents from Kerala are being watched and not tolerated. The CPI (M) has claimed that the RSS-BJP combine was spreading a false propaganda on the issue of political violence.

The minister complained that had some something similar happened in a BJP-ruled state, there would have been a hue and cry. At Edavakode's condolence meeting, Jaitley said, "This kind of violence will neither suppress [RSS] ideology in Kerala nor scare our workers". Protesters demanded that the minister meet victims of RSS' violence too. "All these people who are sitting here have lost their near and dear ones to BJP and RSS workers", he said.

Chennai: The recent political violence and controversy generated by Kerala governor P Sathasivam's move in summoning chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan to Raj Bhavan following the murder of a RSS activist in Thiruvananthapuram seemingly fails to subside.

Eight suspects have been detained in the murder of the RSS worker and taken into custody in connection with the case.
