Rouhani sworn in as Iran's President for 2nd term

Iran President Hassan Rouhani vows to end isolation as he begins his second term

Khamenei vowed that Iran will continue its missile program despite global pressure.

Russian state media reported a source in Rogozin's office said the parties "have reached a tentative agreement to increase military and technical and technological cooperation after both countries have been included to the sanctions list".

Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei formally endorsed Hassan Rohani as president for a second term.

"The nuclear deal is a sign of Iran´s goodwill on the global stage", he said, referring to the 2015 agreement with world powers to curb its atomic programme in exchange for an easing of sanctions.

Last week, Iran successfully launched its domestically-manufactured Simorgh satellite carrier, whose mission is to put Iranian satellites into the orbit. The accord placed limits on Iran's nuclear program in exchange for sanctions relief.

North Korea has rejected calls for Iran-style nuclear talks, noting its situation is different from that of Iran. The law also limits the U.S. president's ability to ease any sanctions on Russian Federation by requiring Congress' approval to lift any restrictions.

Iran's Interior Ministry has made a decision to raise security level at the Parliament to "critical" during the inaugural ceremony. "International engagement should not lead to ignoring hostility of the enemies", Khamenei said. "The aids of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Iraqi people were very effective in confronting ISIL", he added.

Britain, France and Germany - who signed the deal along with Russia, China and the United States - remain firm backers of the agreement and have criticised the Trump administration for threatening to scrap it. "Transition from the most hard sanctions was achieved through a combination of the power of diplomacy and deterrent defensive power", said Rouhani.

He vowed that in his second term in office, Iran will "insist on constructive engagement with the world more than before".

London-based Amnesty called on the European Union to take a tougher stance as the group published a report accusing Iran of a "vicious crackdown" that it says has dashed hopes of rights reform under President Hassan Rouhani.

"The US's repeated violations of its commitments and the new sanctions it imposed on Iran have left a negative impact on Iran's public opinion, and can hamper implementation of the nuclear deal", the Tasnim news agency quoted Mr Rouhani as saying.
