'Sex and the City' star considers primary challenge to NY Gov. Cuomo

Cynthia Nixon might become the latest celebrity to make the jump to politics.

Former "Sex & the City" star Cynthia Nixon - a big supporter of Mayor de Blasio - is being urged to challenge Gov. Cuomo in a primary, a new report said Friday.

"Basically, Gov. Cuomo is shortchanging the children of NY state", Nixon said on The View in April. In March, she wrote an op-ed blasting Cuomo's education policies, which she called dangerously close to those of DeVos.

Nixon's name has been circulated as a potential Democratic primary challenger to incumbent NY governor Andrew Cuomo, who is seeking a third term in the office in the 2018 election.

Appearing on "The View" in April, Nixon blamed the governor for a lack of funding for public schools.
