Parliament speaker Ogtay Asadov to attend Rouhani's inauguration

Tehran says the new measures violate its 2015 deal with world powers that eased sanctions in exchange for curbs on its nuclear programme, an agreement which US President Donald Trump has repeatedly threatened to tear up.

The report provides a comprehensive overview of the crackdown targeting activists from key battlegrounds for human rights in Iran, including anti-death penalty campaigners, women's rights activists, trade unionists, minority rights activists and human rights lawyers.

"They sanctioned Iran; but sanctions made us aware of our potentials and despite all hostilities Islamic republic is more powerful thatn ever", Leader reaffirmed.

The mounting crisis creates a hard position for Rouhani, a 68-year-old moderate who won re-election largely thanks to his efforts to fix relations with the West.

The United States is undermining the Iran nuclear deal by imposing sanctions on the country, a ranking Iranian official said Thursday on state TV.

Iran's supreme leader on Thursday slammed the new US sanctions on Tehran signed by President Donald Trump the previous day, and vowed his country would continue its missile program despite worldwide pressure.

"Some have sharply applied hostility (against Iran), like those who today are in office in the U.S.", Khamenei said, without mentioning Trump or the U.S. president's signing of the legislation on Wednesday.

The bill seeks to ban anyone dealing with Iran's ballistic missile programme from entering the US, and blocks transactions on properties held in the U.S.by people associated with the programme.

Under Rouhani's watch, Iran emerged from global isolation in 2015 when it struck a deal with six world powers to curb its disputed nuclear programme in exchange for the lifting of financial and economic sanctions in place for a decade.

The agreement was championed by former US President Barack Obama and his Administration as one of its landmark foreign policy achievements.

The Iranian nuclear deal has been heavily criticized by some Republican Congressmen and by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Trump also referred to a Supreme Court case, Zivotofsky v. Kerry, in which the high court ruled that Congress can not require the State Department to issue passports stating that Jerusalem is in Israel, which is contrary to current US policy.

A Bulawayo24 report said that Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa would be acting president during Mugabe's absence.

"We will certainly not fall into the trap of United States policy and Trump, and our reaction will be very carefully considered".

However, Iran said earlier this week that it would lodge a complaint with the commission that oversees its implementation.

Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe has reportedly arrived in the capital Tehran to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani. Iranians re-elected Rouhani as the President in the country's May, 2017 elections.

The coincidence of the endorsement ceremony with the auspicious birth anniversary of Imam Ali ibn Musa ar-Ridha brings about dignity and consolation for the loving hearts of the Iranian people and those who attended the ceremony, the Iranian Supreme Leader said.

"The sanctions, of course, caused problems for the country, but [made us] open our eyes to our own capabilities", the Leader said. The second recommendation consists of extensive interaction with the world...

The report's lead researcher Philip Luther said "the European Union must not stay silent over the outrageous treatment" of activists and should press for their release "instead of appeasing Iranian officials".
