Search continues for 19-year-old missing off of Smith Point Beach

A 25-foot Defender-class response boat

Zuzana Oravcova of Slovakia, a student working at the Sweet Shoppe at Jenkinson's boardwalk as part of a visa program, was swept away from her boyfriend Thomas Kadlec, 23, after they took an early morning swim at Point Pleasant Beach on Sunday.

It wasn't immediately clear what prompted the couple to enter the choppy waters and whether there had been any warnings to the general public after recent forecasts of rip currents in the area?

A second swimmer who also went missing on Sunday, Jovani White, 19, was recovered from the water around 6:40am on Monday.

A swimmer who was reported missing in Point Pleasant Beach was reportedly found deceased by Toms River police.

Oravcova was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a statement from the Point Pleasant Beach Police Department. "I spoke to a police officer who took off her shoes to go after him", said a witness who didn't want to be identified. The search was suspended Sunday evening.
