On Wednesday, a jury determined that Jones was owed $9.4 million after a civil case in Los Angeles Superior Court in which the producer alleged that a breach of contract over agreements dating to the 1970s and '80s had shorted him out of millions in royalties.
Jones sued the estate, saying that since Jackson died and his executors turned things around, Jones was owed $30 million from licensing and other royalties.
The lawsuit, filed four years ago, initially sought $30 million United States dollars while Jackson's estate contested in saying Jones was owed $392,000, the Associated Press reports.
"Although this judgement is not the full amount that I was seeking, I am very grateful that the jury decided in our favor in this matter", Jones said in a statement.
"I view it not only as a victory for myself personally, but for artists' rights overall", he added.
"You don't deserve a raise", Mr. Weitzman said during closing arguments this week.

Quincy Jones met a 19-year-old Michael Jackson during the filming of 1978's "The Wiz", which would lead to one of the most fruitful partnerships in pop music.
Jury foreman Duy Ngyen said deliberations went well even with the "fuzzy" contract language.
Jones testified last week (arriving in a wheelchair) and said he was "cheated out of a lot of money" by the Jackson estate.
As Radar can report, Jones produced Jackson's three hit albums: Off the Wall, 'Thriller and Bad. Jones' lawyers contended that his contracts entitle him to significant proceeds from "This Is It", the backstage concert film released after Jackson's death, as well as those from two Cirque du Soleil shows. On the question of whether the Cirque shows or "This Is It" were considered "records", the jury said no. The latter did, however, count as a "video show", which, according to Jones's contract, entitled the music mogul to a portion of the net profits.
Another lawyer for MJJ Productions, Howard Weitzman, earlier told music magazine Billboard that the estate would likely appeal if Jones won a major sum.
Jones also argued that his contracts with Jackson stipulated he be given the first opportunity to reedit or remix any of the masters and that he be given producer credit for each of the master recordings.
